Our Roots in Media

Koby and Keegan started Brand Surge at ages 20 and 21 while still undergraduates at the University of Louisville. What began as a scrappy digital marketing operation, running ads, building local brand presence, and figuring things out in real time, was less about having all the answers and more about refusing to wait until they did. Most agencies are built by people who spent decades working inside them first. We built ours while we were still in class.

Transitioning Into an Agency

Early on, we worked primarily with local service businesses: contractors, plumbers, roofers. We ran paid media and managed their digital presence. It was hands-on, fast-paced work that taught us how to drive real business outcomes with limited budgets and zero margin for fluff. That foundation shaped how we think about every client engagement: what gets results, what doesn't, and how to tell the difference quickly.

The Client That Changed Everything

Working with UofL Executive Education reoriented how we thought about our business. Exec Ed programs operate in a uniquely competitive space. They are selling professional development to working adults and corporate teams who are skeptical, time-constrained, and evaluating ROI before they ever fill out a form. Generic marketing doesn't move them. We had to get precise: the right message, the right channel, the right person. That experience pushed us deep into B2B audience targeting and high-intent outreach, and it became the foundation of our niche.

The Transition to Outbound

From Thanksgiving 2024 through the end of the year, we made a deliberate pivot. We stopped taking on general digital marketing work and committed fully to LinkedIn outbound, building and running pipeline systems for B2B clients. It wasn't a gradual shift. We cleared the deck and rebuilt around what we had seen work: systematic, personalized outreach that puts the right message in front of decision-makers and starts real conversations. That focus is what Brand Surge is today.

What We're Building

We are building the go-to outbound partner for B2B companies that are serious about pipeline. Not a full-service agency that does a little of everything, but a specialized team that runs LinkedIn outbound at a high level and keeps getting better at it. Our goal is to be the first call when a founder, sales leader, or marketing director decides they are done waiting on inbound and ready to go take the meetings they need. We are early in that journey, but we know exactly where we are going.

Koby Batts

Co-Founder & CEO

Koby holds a BS in Economics and an MS in Business Analytics from the University of Louisville, where he also served as College of Business Student Body President. He co-founded Brand Surge in 2022 while still an undergraduate, evolving it into a B2B outbound agency over the years. Koby leads ICP strategy, outbound system design, and oversees client relationships and opportunities to ensure success is met. He also serves as Vice President of the Associate Board at Nativity Academy, and his biggest key to success is doing everything possible to see clients win.

Keegan graduated from the University of Louisville's Innovation MBA program and served as Fraternity President during his undergrad years. He co-built Brand Surge from the ground up alongside Koby, leading growth operations, new market development, and strategic partnerships.

James Miscione

GTM Strategist

James specializes in LinkedIn campaign architecture and ICP refinement across B2B service verticals. He works directly with clients to optimize message sequencing and improve connection-to-conversation rates. Before joining Brand Surge, James built experience as a commercial realtor and assistant superintendent at several golf courses. A big outdoorsman at heart, he brings a hands-on, relationship-first approach and lives for helping clients succeed.
